Description
Chocolate Travertine is an Iranian natural stone with a warm palette ranging from light brown and brownish beige to deeper chocolate tones. It is sourced from several regions of Iran, including Kashan, Isfahan, and Yazd. Color, texture, porosity, and vein movement vary with the quarry, block, and selection. The material can be supplied as raw blocks, slabs, tiles, facade pieces, and cut-to-size products for domestic and export projects.
Vein Cut and Cross Cut Chocolate Travertine
With Vein Cut, the block is cut along its natural bedding direction, making the parallel layers and linear movement more visible. This format is suited to projects where the geological pattern is an important part of the design and is commonly requested for export with honed, leathered, or unfilled finishes.
Cross Cut produces a calmer and more uniform appearance with less pronounced linear movement. It is widely considered for facades, interior walls, lobbies, and residential projects and is often supplied with polished or leathered finishes. With polished material, natural pores are generally filled with resin or mastic before grinding and polishing. Selection should be based on the actual material, and artificial pigment in filling resin should not be used as a substitute for evaluating the stone's natural color.
Slabs, Tiles, and Architectural Applications
Large-format Chocolate Travertine slabs reveal more of the stone's natural color, veins, and geological movement. Depending on grade and technical suitability, slabs, tiles, and cut-to-size pieces can be considered for feature walls, hotel lobbies, TV walls, commercial and office interiors, wall cladding, and selected flooring applications. Flooring specifications should account for thickness, traffic, surface finish, performance, and installation method.
Chocolate Travertine for Facades
The warm brown palette works well with white, cream, and beige natural stones and can create contrast in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary facades. Facade selection must also consider stone soundness, panel dimensions, thickness, climate, fixing system, and project engineering requirements.
Surface Finishes
- Polished: a smooth reflective surface that emphasizes color depth.
- Honed: a smooth matte surface with reduced reflection.
- Leathered: a textured, relatively matte surface that retains a tactile natural character.
- Unfilled: a finish that preserves more of the natural pores and cavities.
Export Formats and Dimensions
Chocolate Travertine can be supplied internationally as raw blocks or processed stone. Common requested formats include 30 x 60 cm and 40 x 80 cm at 10 mm thickness. For dry-fixed facades on a metal substructure, these formats may be produced at 30 mm where confirmed by the fixing design and engineering requirements. Final thickness must be selected according to panel size, building height, fixing system, environmental exposure, and project specifications.
Raw-block evaluation should cover structural integrity, fractures, color consistency, vein direction, Vein Cut or Cross Cut potential, slab yield, and processing waste. For processed orders, buyers should specify cutting direction, finish, dimensions, thickness, selection, quantity, packing, and destination. Sange Hassan can review supply options for Chocolate Travertine blocks, slabs, tiles, facade pieces, and custom cut-to-size material.
